Sources said, during fixing of polling centres the convenience of the voters is also taken into account. But the authorities concerned appear to have forgotten this rule. Thousands of voters are angry because they will have to walk a good distance to cast their votes in the civic elections this time.
A voter from Rajapur locality might have to take the pains of walking all the way to Muirabad locality and vice versa. So, only the most enthusiastic would prefer to undergo this ordeal. Else others would prefer to sit at home, said Mohammad Ali, a voter from Rajapur.
Similarly there are several voters from Rajapur who will have to go to Ashok Nagar to exercise their right of franchise. Then there is the story of missing names. Imagine, the name of former Chief Justice of Patna High Court, Justice RS Dhawan, whose family had been living in Civil Lines for the past several decades, is missing from the voters list, informed former MLA Anugrah Narain Singh. This is not all. Names of the family members of Justice Markandey Katju of Supreme Court and Justice (rtd) MP Mehrotra are also missing, he added.
The list does not end here. Entire Tashkant Marg is missing from the list. Its place has been taken over by Lotus Apartment, a building constructed by a builder. None of the occupants in St Joseph's Seminary have their names in the list which speaks nothing of several other old residents living on Tashkant Marg.
Similar allegations have been levelled from several other parts of the city.
