One suspected Zomi Revolutionary Army (ZRA) activist was arrested and assault rifle, hand grenades have been recovered from his possession at Vaikhawtlang, near Mizoram-Myanmar border area, on Friday.
Patrolling jawans of Assam Rifles recovered the arms after intercepting a man who first darted towards the border after spotting the security personnel, a spokesman of Assam Rifles said.
One AK-56 rifle, one .9 mm pistol, two hand grenades and a wireless radio set besides one magazine and five rounds of ammunition were seized from the possession of the man whose exact identity was not yet known, the spokesman said.
The arrested person was suspected to be an insurgent of ZRA.
The weapons were concealed under a bundle of woods being carried by him.
