The overloaded bus belonging to the Shiromani Gurudwara Prabahandak Committee (SGPC) was ferrying the pilgrims from the Golden Temple to the railway station when the mishap took place.

Police said the driver of the bus lost control over the vehicle while negotiating a sharp curve.

SGPC President Avtar Singh Makkar has announced Rs one lakh compensation for the family of the deceased identified as Gulzar Singh and free treatment for the injured passengers.
