Deputy Chairperson Najma Heptulla said "if you don't want to work then I might adjourn the House for the day."

When the Opposition members refused to relent and continued with their demand for Naik's resignation, Heptulla adjourned the House for the day.

However, the members observed a minute's silence in memory of martyrs of the Quit India movement before the House was adjourned.
