Oprah Winfrey set to hit airwaves

Winfrey is set to enter the world of radio with a new show called Oprah & Friends on US' XM Channel.

America's 'Queen of Talkshows', Oprah Winfrey, is broadening her horizons. She is set to enter the world of radio with a new show called Oprah & Friends on XM channel.

Hugh Panero, President and CEO of XM Satellite Radio, in a statement said that Winfrey would bring an 'amazing' radio experience to the channel's subscribers.

"Oprah Winfrey is a prolific force in our culture whose unprecedented achievements in television, film, publishing and philanthropy will bring an amazing radio experience to the XM nation of subscribers," E! Online quoted him, as stating.

Winfrey's $55 million three-year deal will see her hosting a weekly show along with her best friend Gayle King, as well as programmes hosted by other personalities familiar to her talk show audience and O magazine.

In a statement, Winfrey said that she and her friends were looking forward to the experience.

"Together with my friends, we look forward to creating programming that will entertain, inform and inspire our listening audience on XM," she said.
