Prof Singh also advised the foreign students to learn about Indian culture, historic significance of Kashi and great character of Mahamana Pt Madan Mohan Malviya and always be associated with BHU.
On the occasion, the coordinator of International Centre, Prof TR Rao said that compared to last year, 25 per cent more foreign students have been enrolled in BHU in the current academic session of 2006-07.
Prof Rao added that keeping in view the increasing number of foreign students in BHU, an International Centre was established last year to address the problems of these students from a single counter.
Besides, Prof Maheshwari Prasad delivered a lecture on ‘Indian Tradition and Culture’ whereas Prof UC Dubey dwelt upon ‘History of BHU: Vision of Malviyaji’.
BHU administration also arranged a visit to Buddha Temple and Museum in Sarnath area for these students to give them an insight into Indian culture.
Additional coordinator of International Centre, Prof. HB Srivastava conducted the programme and proposed a formal vote of thanks. Rector of BHU, Prof. S. Lele, dean of students Prof VK Kumra and Prof SK Sharma were among other scholars who addressed these students.
