Orissa beat Jharkhand in Ranji Trophy one-dayer

A fine century by Sujit Biswal and an unbeaten knock of 88 by Haladhar Das steered Orissa to a seven-wicket win against Jharkhand in the Ranji Trophy one-day tournament for East Zone at the Jadavpur University ground, in Kolkata.

A fine century by Sujit Biswal and an unbeaten knock of 88 by Haladhar Das steered Orissa to a seven-wicket win against Jharkhand in the Ranji Trophy one-day tournament for East Zone at the Jadavpur University ground, in Kolkata on Thursday.

Chasing Jharkhand's 260 for seven, Orissa reached the target in 44.3 overs losing three wickets.

Jharkhand won the toss and opted to bat. Saurav Tiwary (76), SP Gautam (62) and Ishank Jaggi (42) helped Jharkhand post a competitive total.

For Orissa, Preetamjit Das (2/43) and Rakesh Mohanty (2/44) were the successful bowlers.

In reply, Orissa's Biswal and Das plundered runs at will. Biswal scored 105 runs in 112 balls with 11 boundaries and a six. Das hit 10 boundaries in his 88 off 101 balls.

Orissa will take on Bengal in their next encounter on Saturday, the outcome of which will decide who advances to the final round.

While Orissa have nine points from two matches, Bengal have 14 from three.
