Charges in two cases, one for attempt to murder under police station Amrahat and another for loot under police station Satti, were framed at the court of additional district judge (VII) Mumtaj Ali. However, for three other cases, the next date of hearing was fixed for September 29.
In another case of a senior officer Hardev Adarsh’s murder under police station Kalyanpur, both the dacoits are facing trail in additional district court (XV) Mukesh Kumar of Kanpur City. Jail authorities asked to bring records to court
ADDITIONAL DISTRICT Judge (ADJ) (IV) SP Goel of Kanpur Dehat has asked the jail authorities to bring their records to the court on September 4 for verification.
The records are related to a jailed criminal Mangali Kewat who, despite an order, was not produced before the ADJ’s court on August 28, the day fixed for hearing of the case. However, the accused was produced before the Bhganipur court in Kanpur Dehat where he was being tried for criminal cases. The court asked the jail superintendent to explain the reason for not producing the accused on August 28.
According to sources, on August 29, the jail superintendent explained to the court that the police were told to produce the criminal at ADJ’s court before taking him to the Bhganipur. But owing to ignorance of the policemen escorting the criminal, the accused could not be produced before the ADJ’s court.
Taking note of the jail superintendent’s explanation, the judge did not initiate any action against the jail authorities. However, the case took a new turn on Thursday when the when the head of the police escort, head constable Shiv Prasad Yadav, informed the court that the jail authorities gave permission to take Kewat to the Bhoganipur court only. Thus, they took him for hearing to Bhoganipur, the cops said. Sources said that on hearing the police version, the ADJ asked the jail authorities to produce their records for verification on September 4.
