Over 250 SP workers arrested across UP
Over 250 members of Samajwadi Party were arrested across Uttar Pradesh on Monday while staging demonstrations as part of the party's state-wide stir against "corruption and atrocities" by the BSP government.
As many as hundred SP leaders and workers were arrested in the collectorate premises on Monday while demonstrating against the BSP government, Dasna Jail Superintendent Viresh Raj Sharma said.
Among those arrested were Ghaziabad President Aulad Ali, Ghaziabad Mahanagar President Ram Kishore Agarwal, District Secretary Dham Bir Dabas, he said.
Meanwhile, in a similar agitation, over 100 SP workers were arrested in Mathura.
Mathura district administration has made adequate arrangements in the district in view of the party's agitation, official sources said.
The SP has launched a three-day 'BSP hatao, UP bachao' (remove the BSP government and save the state) agitation from today.
Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav had said on February 26 that their agitation against the BSP rule in Uttar Pradesh would be totally peaceful and would aim at exposing the misdeeds of the state government.
"Our agitation will be totally non-violent. We will expose corrupt deeds of the BSP government during the stir," he had told party workers and office-bearers in Lucknow.
