Producer Pahlaj Nihalani is finally ready for a sequel to his 1993 blockbuster Aankhen. The producer has been toying with the idea for several years and has finally decided to go ahead. The script is being written and as soon as the final draft is ready, he will make an official announcement.

The buzz in trade circles is that Nihalani wants Rohit, the son of the original director, David Dhawan, to direct the movie but Nihalani refutes this and says that he will not even be repeat the earlier cast.

“Almost two decades have passed. If the sequel is to work, I need to go in for fresh faces and a new director,” says Nihalani. “Only the premise will remain unchanged.”

He promises plenty of gaana bajana.. and some rona dhona too. There will be lots of laughs and thrills as well. “Plus, two-three double roles.. and a monkey,” he adds.

Thrills and spills
Shooting should start early next year. “I’m looking to sign up an established star and will probably be introducing a new boy,” he says.

What about Govinda and Chunkey Pandey? Nihalani shrugs, “They could be a part of the movie but it’s too early to get into casting details.”
