Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta said here today that Miyan, alias Haji Samsul Haque Talukdar, was brought here by a flight and taken to Pan Bazaar police station.
Miyan was brought here by a special team of the Assam Police, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Navajit Bhuyan, after he was granted four days' transit remand by a Kolkata Court on Monday.
Miya was arrested on Monday by a joint team of West Bengal's police Special Task Force (STF) and Assam police from the residence of a Nepali woman following a tip-off.
Besides drug-trafficking, Miyan was wanted in connection with his alleged involvement in the killing of revenue intelligence officer Tarun Kumar Dutta on September 12, 2006 in Guwahati.
