Additional director (health) Allahabad Division Dr SK Srivastava has constituted a three-member committee to inquire into the complaints made by a Rajrooppur resident against a retired PMS female doctor (gynaecologist).

The committee will also look into the recommendations made by the district administration for derecognising the MBBS degree of the gynaecologist on the basis of the complaints.
The inquiry committee consists of Dr Usha Gupta from Dufferin Women's Hospital, pathologist Dr Tewari from Beli Hospital and surgeon Dr VK Singh.
According to the complaint, Dr Sarita Bhargava who runs a private nursing home in Lukerganj conducted MTP of Seema Kashyap, a resident of Rajrooppur. She was charged Rs 2000 for the procedure on November 17, 2001 and was allegedly not issued any receipt.
Few days later Seema developed some complications and went to Kanpur for further treatment. The doctors told her that due to negligence of doctor in conducting the MTP she was suffering from some serious gynae problems and may not be able to conceive again.
"Angry over the alleged careless handling by Dr Sarita Bhargava the women and her husband Sunil Kashyap made a complaint to the district administration and also filed a case in the court against the doctor.
After conducting a detailed inquiry the DM made recommendations to the government to derecognise the degree of Dr Bhargava. Following the recommendations by the DM the director general (health) issued fresh directions to look into the recommendations of the DM," AD Dr SK Srivastava said.
Dr Srivastava informed that Dr Sarita Bhargava's statement has also been recorded. She has claimed that the MTP was conducted in a proper manner and the police has also given her a clean chit on the complaints. "The inquiry has started and the committee is expected to give its report very shortly," he added.
