THE STATE Information Commission would shortly make a spot verification of the ancient Kashi Vishwanath Temple here to enquire the allegation of the damage caused to the walls of temples by enamel painting.

A petition of former UP Transport Minister, Shatrudra Prakash, alleged that the walls of the prominent ancient temple were getting damaged due to chemical enamel painting.

Acting on the petition, State’s Chief Information Commissioner MA Khan, at a meeting held in Lucknow on Wednesday, ordered State Information Commissioner Gyanendra Sharma to look into the matter and submit his report to the commission within a month.

The additional Cheif Executive Officer of the Kashi Vishwanath Temple Trust, RS Pathak said that the trust has not got any official information yet from the commission.

He informed that walls of the temple had been painted by the men of a devotee-cum-donator. The Temple Trust had not borne any expenses for the purpose.
