This happened when Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav was busy distributing unemployment allowance and Kanya Vidya dhan cheques on the DDU Gorakhpur University premises. The BJP city unit burnt the effigy of the Chief Minister and activists of the Youth Congress organised a boot polish campaign to express their anger.

Condemning the Chief Minister at Chetna crossing, BJP MP Yogi Adityanath said that the State Government funds were misused by the Samajwadi Party (SP) to gain cheap popularity.

He said that youths wanted employment not the allowances and called upon the youths to dislodge the government.

Adityanath said starvation deaths were taking place in various districts of the State and the mysterious Japanese Encephalitis claimed more than 100 lives.
However, the Chief Minister had not time to take the notice of the plight of the patients.

Activists of the RJD also organised a Mukti Yagya at the Court crossing and raised anti-government slogans.

The Youth Congress activists criticised the State Government for insulting the youths by providing them with unemployment allowance.

Activists of the Bharatiya Janata Morcha took out a procession and raised anti-government slogans.
