The VHP has alleged that political parties were going out of the way to woo minorities and were even prepared to change the Constitution for their sake, simply because they are united and are a solid vote bank.

The VHP international vice president S Vedantam said that Hindus should also remain united, otherwise they run the risk of being ruled by the minorities.

He took Kerala's example and pointed out that the difference in percentage of population between Hindus and minorities was just three per cent. "The Hindus will soon become minorities in that state," he said.

He said that a Hindu protection conference would be held by the VHP at Erode on March 18 and 19 with the aim of protecting the interests of Hindus.

The conference would deliberate on the suggestions of spiritual and Hindu leaders for the development of the Hindu society. A total of 500 bhajan troupes from all over India would participate in a 'Bhajan mela' on March 18, he said.

The state-level priests conference would also be held at Erode on March 19, he added.
