The Regional Passport office on Wednesday issued passports to the kin of the slain Professor V Loganathan, who was killed in a shoot out in the US two days back.

Passport Officer, Sumathy Ravichandran, told reporters here that passports were issued to GK Vasudevan and V Kannammal, parents of Loganathan, his brother Senguttuvelan and his wife Senthamizhselvi, following instructions from the External Affairs Ministry.

Palanivelu, one of the brothers of Loganathan, was informed last night to bring the four to the passport office on Wednesday, she added.

The US Consulate was expected to issue necessary visas to them today itself, she said.

The Tamil Nadu Government would take care of all expenses, including air-tickets, for nine of Loganathan's relatives, who were scheduled to leave for US in the early hours of Thursday, she said.

She decribed Loganathan's demise as 'unfortunate'.
