A meeting of the chief ministers of the Northeastern states and Sikkim began in Guwahati on Tuesday with Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil reviewing the security scenario in the region.

The meeting was expected to review the law and order situation in all the states in view of the recent violence in Assam, including the bomb blast at the Republic Day parade ground in Guwahati, and the ULFA establishing camps in neighbouring states.
A concrete shape was also expected to be given to the decision taken at the last chief ministers' meeting to coordinate operations against insurgents in all states.
Patil was also scheduled to review the implementation of the Assam Accord, as his ministry is the nodal ministry to implement the document.
A tripartite meeting between the Home minister, Assam Government and All Assam Students Union (AASU) was also slated for Tuesday evening on the Accord implementation, official sources said.
The AASU had earlier expressed its unwillingness to discuss the Accord with the Home Minister, as it was adamant to talk only with the Prime Minister.
