People living in East Godavari in AP issued warning

As water level in Godavari river crossed danger mark today, the local authorities have issued warning to residents living near the river bank in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh.

As water level in Godavari river crossed danger mark on Saturday, the local authorities have issued warning to residents living near the river bank in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh.

The water level at Dowleswarm has been on the rise for the past two days with heavy rains lashing the district, Flood Control Officer and Senior Engineer, V Venugopal said.

"The water level is likely to increase further by night. We are monitoring the situation and taking all precautions. People living in low-lying areas have been asked to shift to safer places," he added.

Special officers have been appointed to monitor the situation round the clock at rivulets, tanks and Godavari river, he added.
