Pepper gas has Srinagar reeling

For almost a month since the execution of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru on February 9, Srinagar residents are being exposed to hazardous pepper gas fired by security forces to quell protesters.

For almost a month since the execution of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru on February 9, Srinagar residents are being exposed to hazardous pepper gas fired by security forces to quell protesters.

“Everyone is coughing because of this horrible pepper gas. My daughter coughs so much that she has vomited everything she had since morning. To all doctors, is there any antidote to pepper gas? quick please.”

This was an SOS curfew-bound Malik Munfat posted on Facebook on Thursday evening that has gone viral. Well-known chest specialist Dr Naveed Nazeer said if the respiratory system is exposed to the gas for a long time, it can cause even an inability to speak.
