The summon was issued by Judge Naredenra Jain on a petition filed by Chandrasekhar Raikwar, an advocate.

The case was filed under various sections of the IPC.

The petitioner alleged that the painter has tried to disrupt the unity and diversity of the country and promoted vulgarity by painting the picture of India in an obscene manner.

The court also asked Hussain to remain present in the court on March 22.

In the petition, Raikwar also cited earlier occasions when Hussain allegedly hurt the sentiments of the people by painting indecent pictures of goddess Durga.
