MEMBERS OF Petroleum Dealers’ Association have decided to observe statewide closure of petrol pumps in support of their various long-pending demands on August 12.

The petroleum dealers are demanding the State Government to realise of 20 per cent Trade Tax on petrol and 11.5 per cent on diesel to the tune of Delhi and Haryana which is 26 per cent and 22 per cent in UP, an immediate ban over issuance of diesel license, to remove additional taxes of Nagar Nigam, Zila Parishad and Panchayat over petrol pumps and remove arms license should be provided to petrol pumps from security point of view, etc.
General secretary of the association, Vinod Singh said that petrol pumps of Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum, Hindustan Petroleum and IBP would remain close on Saturday. He said that the Union and State governments were taking advantage of the increasing price of crude oil in the international market.
He said that the Union Government levied Central Excise whereas State Government levied Trade Tax Development Tax on petrol and diesel due to which the customers were suffering a lot.
