Philately clubs to be opened in all schools

PHILATELY FESTIVAL Bhopal 2006 concluded today, with Chief Post Master General Madhu Narayanan announcing an ambitious plan of opening philately clubs in all the schools in Madhya Pradesh.

PHILATELY FESTIVAL Bhopal 2006 concluded today, with Chief Post Master General Madhu Narayanan announcing an ambitious plan of opening philately clubs in all the schools in Madhya Pradesh.

She said the Department of Posts would now target children and introduce a healthy competition in schools, to bring out the best in philatelic field.

The department would also introduce number and ranking, based on the activities the schools undertake. In the beginning, one of the jury members Rajendra Pahalwan presented the jury report on philately.

The concluding day also witnessed prize distribution ceremony for quiz, on-the-spot painting, displays and letter-writing competitions.

Arvind Khodke, a philatelist and also a member of the jury was felicitated for his unique stamp collections, telling a saga of 90 years of India’s freedom struggle.

A student Kuhu Agarwal, who had earlier won a prize for her on-the-spot-painting in Bhopal and qualified for Delhi, received second prize at all India level. The picture has been adopted for first day cover, a jury informed.
