The 25-year-old Pietersen crashed into the boundary hoarding and walked off the field clutching his left elbow on Sunday's final day of the drawn match.

However, a precautionary x-ray revealed no damage, much to the relief of an already injury-ravaged England squad.

The South Africa-born player lashed 87 in England's second innings to help the tourists set a 368-run fourth innings target on day five.

The injury-prone Pietersen hurt his right elbow in the first Test in Multan last November, during the 2-0 series defeat in Pakistan, then returned home early during the one-dayers due to a rib injury.

England are already without captain Michael Vaughan and fast bowler Simon Jones due to injuries.

The visitors play three Tests and seven one-dayers, with the second Test starting in Mohali on Thursday.
