PM approves Rs 100 cr for flood-hit R'sthan

The amount, to be released from the Calamity Relief Fund, will be used for relief and rehabilitation.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Saturday approved Rs 100-crore adhoc relief for flood-hit Rajasthan.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), chaired by him, Finance Minister P Chidambaram told reporters after the two-hour meeting.

He said the decision was taken on the basis of the report of Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee, who visited the state to assess the damage.

The amount, to be released from the Calamity Relief Fund, will be used for relief and rehabilitation, he said.

He also said a team will be sent by the Ministry of Home Affairs to the state shortly.
