During his hour-long interaction with Wen, the Prime Minster voiced concern over cross-border terrorism and the need for Pakistan, China's close ally in the region, to bring it to an end "as quickly as possible".

Briefing newspersons on the talks, External Affairs Minsiter Yashwant Sinha said Vajpayee also expressed "our disappointment at the fact that this is not happening."

The Chinese Premier, Sinha said, commended the hand of friendship extended by Vajpayee to Pakistan.

China conveyed to the Indian side that it wanted peaceful resolution of differences in South Asia for the stability of the region and also the rest of the world, Sinha added.
