PM stresses on technology transfer

India has emphasised that cooperation between India and France in all fields should focus more on technology transfer rather than mere buyer-seller relationship, reports Varghese K George.

Addressing the Indo-US Business Summit, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said: “We see clear synergies for cooperation in seven areas — investments, infrastructure, cooperation in services, skill development, solar energy, nuclear commerce, agricultural productivity and research and space. In an interview to Le Figaro, he said: “French firms actively participate in our defence programme but we would like to build real partnership with collaboration in research and development, transfer of technologies and joint productions, going far beyond a simple buyer-seller relationship”.
