PM to visit Assam on his way back from Philippines

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will visit Assam on his way back from Philippines.

Singh, who will be returning on Monday, will have a stop over at Kolkata where he will spend the night, PM's media advisor Sanjaya Baru said.

The prime minister will visit Assam on Tuesday and meet the affected families.
During his day-long visit to the northeastern state, he will also hold talks with state government and army officials.

The killings by ULFA has shocked the nation and triggered widespread condemnation. The prime minister had termed the killing an "act of cowardice and inhumanity".

Singh on Saturday left on a three-day visit to Philippines city of Cebu to attend the India-ASEAN and East Asia summits.
