PMK General Council to meet on May 25 to discuss poll outcome
After being routed in the May 13 Lok Sabha elections, S Ramadoss-founded PMK has convened its General Council meeting on May 25 to discuss the party's dismal showing.
"The General Council will discuss the just concluded elections and chalk out the party's future strategy," PMK President G K Mani said in a statement in Chennai on Saturday.
Ramadoss, his son and former Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss and party MLAs among others would attend the meeting to be held here, he said.
The PMK, which parted ways with the DMK, last year after fighting the 2004 Lok Sabha and 2006 Assembly elections as part of the DMK-led DPA, dumped the UPA ahead of the recent general elections and joined the AIADMK led front.
However, the party lost all the seven seats it contested in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. The PMK had won five seats in the 2004 polls.
The outcome left the party out of the ruling combine at the Centre for the first time since 1998.
