PNB opens Hockey Academy
The Punjab National Bank has opened a hockey academy in the campus of the Bright Scholars' School in Sonepat.
Giving this information, Ashok Sharma, Manager of the academy, told mediapersons on Friday that this was the first academy opened by the bank in view of the Commonwealth Games to be hosted by the country.
"This academy was started at Gurgaon but the district administration there had failed to render any help to the bank authorities. Hence it has been shifted to Sonepat where 30 senior players are being given training, in addition to 25 others," Sharma said.
The bank authorities, he said, had also approached the Haryana sports department for providing infrastructure to the academy.
Sharma said that the players at the academy include 10 from Haryana and 25 selected from sports hostels.
