Trying to justify the lathi-charge by his police force on the crowd which had queued up for match tickets, Bangalore Police chief Shankar Bidari, made a loose comment on Friday. "Sometimes to avoid greater injury, you have to handle minor injuries," Bidari said. "It was due to jostling amongst the crowd. If we would have used force, there could have been a stampede." These are sensitive issues and the top officials need to be careful in their statements.
