Police fired to disperse groups indulging in stone pelting in Panigate area on Monday morning. The situation is under control and patrolling has been intensified.

Police fired at least one round in air to disperse two groups indulging in stone pelting in Vadodara on Monday morning.

The situation was under control and patrolling was intensified in all sensitive areas of Panigate area to prevent any further incident of violence, police said.

Meanwhile, curfew from sensitive Raopura area of Vadodara city was lifted on Monday morning where violence broke out yesterday during assembly election victory marches by BJP activists in some sensitive areas.

The curfew was imposed only as a precautionary measure and there was no tension in the area, officials said.

One person was killed and 17 others injured, one of them in police firing, after violence broke out during assembly election victory marches by BJP activists.
