Police on toes for immersion
POLICE ARE on high alert for the immersion procession of the Devnathpura-based Nav Sangh Club?s Goddess Kali idol on Tuesday.The Devnathpura-based Kali Puja celebration is said to be hypersensitive as, a few years ago, a communal riot had broken out during an immersion procession. Police have divided the route of the immersion procession in three sectors from Devnathpura to Dashashwamedh Ghat.
POLICE ARE on high alert for the immersion procession of the Devnathpura-based Nav Sangh Club’s Goddess Kali idol on Tuesday.
The Devnathpura-based Kali Puja celebration is said to be hypersensitive as, a few years ago, a communal riot had broken out during an immersion procession.
Police have divided the route of the immersion procession in three sectors from Devnathpura to Dashashwamedh Ghat.
The administration will deploy three companies of the Provincial Armed Constabulary, one company of the Rapid Action Force (RAF), 22 police station officers and 650 police constables on the procession route.
Besides, police also imposed traffic restrictions on several routes in the city on Tuesday.
No vehicular traffic will be allowed on the Maidagin-Godaulia route. Traffic restrictions will also be imposed on the Ramapura crossing to the Godaulia route and Sonarpura to Godaulia.
No vehicular traffic will be allowed on the connecting lanes and by-lanes of these routes either.
