A police sub-inspector was allegedly abducted from Simria village in Ghatgaon area, about 40 kms from Gwalior, police said on Sunday.

Dinesh Chandra Dixit, posted at Matabasaiya in neighbouring Morena district, was abducted while returning here from Simria where he had gone on a personal work by his motor work yesterday, they said.

A search was carried out on Sunday after his family informed police that he had not returned home on Saturday night, they said adding that his motor cycle was found near a bridge at Simria and there were indications that he was abducted by unidentified persons.

A case has been registered and efforts are on to trace him, police added.
