“As a representative of the railway commuters association and local MLA, I have constantly been conveying grievances of commuters to the railways,” said Gopal Shetty, Borivli legislator and BJP city unit president. “But the railways ignored it. That is why today’s incident occurred.”

Congress MP and actor Govinda said the agitation was politically motivated and commuters it did not have commuters’ support.

Former railway minister Ram Naik condemned the incident. “Commuters have to walk at least for half a km to reach platform no 7 and 8. Naturally, they get upset if the scheduled train is cancelled.”

“They lost their patience today. Commuters are not getting satisfactory services in spite of quadrupling.”
