The Supreme Court on Thursday stayed the operation of Maharashtra Police Act that prohibited dance performances at eating places, beer bars and restaurants.

The court however added a rider to its interim order and allowed the licensing authorities in the state to regulate indecent dance performances at bars and other places.
But Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has said that the state government would press its demand in the Supreme Court for continuing the ban .
