Acting on a tip-off, troops of 19 Madras Regiment and police in a joint operation stopped a car at Bahalpur on National Highway 31 and recovered the IED from two persons travelling in it.
The police arrested the two people, suspected to belong to the militant outfit Muslim United Liberation Front of Asom (MULTA).
The two have been identified as Jalaluddin and Shahidul Islam, sources said.
