THE PRASHANT Samman instituted by Jawaharlal Youth Centre Madhya Pradesh will be conferred upon 10 journalists at a function in Ravindra Bhavan on Thursday.
In addition to Prashant Samman, Raj Bharadwaj Samman and Kishore Umrekar Samman will also be conferred this year. Union Minister of Human Resource Development Arjun Singh will present the awards.
Former chief minister Sunderlal Patwa will preside over the function and Hindustan Times Resident Editor Askari Zaidi will be the special guest at the function.
The Raj Bharadwaj Samman will be conferred upon Umesh Trivedi and Kishore Umrekar Samman on Prakash Hatwalne. The Prashant Samman will be presented to Ganesh Sakalle, Mrigendra Singh, Deepak Tiwari, Sanjeev Gupta, Prakash Tiwari, K S Shaini, Vishwakarma Das, Brajesh Rajput, Deepti Chaurasia Verma and Vanita Shrivastava.
At other functions, Arjun Singh will deliver the first lecture under the Mayaram Surjan Memorial Lecture Series being started by MP Hindi Sahitya Sammelan.
The lecture will take place at MP Hindi Sahitya Sammelan Bhavan on Thursday at noon. Sammelan president Prof Akshay Kumar Jain will preside over the function.
Arjun Singh will speak on life, personality and deeds of Mayaram Surjan. Later in the day, Arjun Singh will release the book on Sanchi Stupas – ‘Sanchi rediscovered: a journey through time’ at the Campion School auditorium.
The book is a compilation of the late archaeologist Bipin Ghosal’s manuscripts, correspondence and noting by his granddaughter Susheila Ghosal.
The book’s manuscript was rediscovered and edited by Susheila Ghosal nearly seven decades after her grandfather’s death. Bipin Ghosal was the superintendent of King Edward Museum of the erstwhile Bhopal State.
