President greets nation on eve of Women's Day

President APJ Abdul Kalam on Tuesday underlined the need for providing value-based education to women to ensure a stable, empowered society and for turning the country into a developed nation by 2020.

In his message on the eve of International Women's Day, the President said "...I extend my warm greetings and felicitations to all the women of India for their important role in our mission to transform our country into a developed nation by 2020.

"Indian women have played a major role in a number of fields and professions over the years. Women are a source of inspiration for the family, society and ultimately a nation. When a woman is empowered with value-based education, empowered society with stability is assured," the President said.
