After securing a world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, 'Swapner Din' (Chased by Dreams) has been lined up for screening at the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA), New York, as well.

'Swapner Din' would be premiered at the 29th Toronto festival beginning September 9. Then the film moves to MOMA.

The film's screening at MOMA, which is reopening its New York gallery in November at a new address, is particularly laudable because it would be shown alongside the works of Jean-Luc Goddard, Theo Angelopoulos, Alexander Sokurov and Abbas Kiarostami.

MOMA is coming up at a midtown address in New York and would screen "Swapner Din" at its inaugural film exhibition called Premieres on December 3.

"Swapner Din" would be Dasgupta's third film to be premiered at the Toronto festival after "Uttara" in 2000 and "Mondo Meyer Upakhan" in 2002, a unique achievement for an Indian director.

At the festival, "Swapner Din" will be screened in the Masters Section where works of world's film greats are shown.

"Uttara" and "Mondo Meyer Upakhan" were also screened at MOMA.

"Swapner Din", which was produced by Bollywood's Jhamu Sugand, stars Bengali superstar Prasenjit, upcoming actress Raima Sen, who is the granddaughter of yesteryears idol Suchitra Sen, and young Bollywood actress Rimi Sen.

In Dasgupta's own words, the film is a tale of three individuals who lead an ordinary existence but love to dream and chase dreams.

In the course of their journey, the protagonists of the film, Prasenjit's character called Paresh being the pivot, come closer.

Touching Paresh's life at several points are a driver who dreams of making it big in Dubai and Amina (Rimi Sen), a pregnant Muslim girl migrating into India from Bangladesh. With no dialogues and appearing in more than one role, Raima flits in and out of Paresh's dreams.

Dasgupta believes that the screening of "Swapner Din" in Toronto is important for financial reasons, as "Mondo Meyer Upakhan" fetched a business of $2.5 million last year.
