Besides, the entire city has been divided into four zones including Allahpur, Muthiganj, Mundera and Naini, for sanitation purpose. Every ward will have one chief zone and one zonal office each. The zonal officers will look after the housing tax and streetlights in their respective zones.

These decisions were taken as per the suggestions made by the NN delegation which had gone for Hyderabad and Vijayawada to study civic arrangements there as part of Jawahar National Urban Renewal Mission’ (JNURM) of the Central Government.

Abhijat asked NN officers to implement the first phase of e- governance that includes house tax and water tax matters in the city. Officials were also asked to make landscapes of main roads like the Public Service Commission crossing to St Anthony Inter College and Deen Dayal Upadhaya crossing in the city. Roads around Company Bagh will also be beautified. The entire Civil Lines area will become free from stray animals from April 1, 2006. A committee of senior citizens will be set up to monitor the streetlights and sanitation condition of the city.

Meanwhile, the rates for safai karmchari for night has been fixed by the Nigam. Regular staff and contractual sanitary staff would be demarcated by the Nigam.

Sanitary system of Naini will be given to a private agency.

On the other sides, several major roads and crossings still do not have streetlights and high masks. Such roads include AU Women’s Hostel Crossing to Teliyarganj and Mazar Crossing to Govindpur colony. Mazar crossing, one of the main crossings on Allahabad- Lucknow road has been without lights for the last several decades.
