The under construction five room cottage, at Charabara, 15 kilometers from the main town, was dismantled after Priyanka Gandhi expressed her unhappiness over the design. Priyanka Gandhi had been keen to live in the lush green surroundings in Charabra which she visited for the first time with her parents Rajiv and Sonia Gandhi in mid eighties.

"The work on the cottage construction had been halted for last few months as madam (Priyanka Gandhi) had proposed some changes in the design", says Kehar Singh Khachi, President of District Congress Committee who is supervising construction work at the cottage.. "The work on the cottage will starts after the design is approved" said Khachi.

The cottage that spreads across 3.5 bighas, has been dismantled for the second time.

The land for the cottage was purchased from the United States based businessman Satish Sood at a cost of Rs 47 lakhs in in 2007. Veteran Congress leader Vidya Stokes close to 10 Janpath had played a major role in facilitating land for construction of cottage that was to be completed last winter. Those supervising the construction work are already worried about the time constraints" Monsoon rains have further delayed the redesigning and construction of the cottage" says Kehar Singh Khachi.
