They want to change politics. Many quit their jobs to contest the elections with minimum financial resources.
Some joined 'LokSatta', Hyderabad-based Jaya Prakash Narayan’s party.
Anand Yadavad, an IT professional, from LokSatta, said: “We have five leading parties in the state but we don’t have any faith in them.”
Professionals like him managed to get 8% of the votes in the recent civic election in Bangalore, he said.
IIM graduate and IT professional Sridhar Pabbisetty resigned his job in Singapore to contest the elections from Hebbal. We may not win but we want to change the trend, he said.
The roll call of non-political candidates is impressive: astronomer, former NASA scientist and now urban affairs expert Dr Aswhin Mahesh (Bommanahalli), noted gynaecologist and fertility expert Dr Meenakshi (Malleshwaram), IT entrepreneur Naveena CK (Mysore Krishnaraja), software professionals Shantala Damle (Basavanagudi), Ravi Krishna Reddy (BTM Layout) and Nagesh Vilas Sakhare (Belgaum).
