Talking to Hindustan Times, Dr Anil said that, “I preferred to take up civil services as I realised that I could give more to nation as an administrator than an engineer. Though there is a system constraint and it was not possible for a single person to change the whole scenario overnight, but if like minded people with technical and other professional backgrounds join civil services, we can expect remarkable change in the country’s progress.”
He said the training of the IIT was so effective that a student after completing studies at the Institute can venture to take up any profession with success. Dr Anil, who is also the National Coordinator of the Alumni 1981 class feels that civil servants with technical background could prove to be very good administrators.
His wife, Dr Vineeta Srivastava, a 1987 batch alumna of the IIT-K is now a journalist. She did Msc (Chemistry) from here and obtained the PhD degree. She told Hindustan Times that her preference was either for teaching or the job of a journalist. She is happy to become a journalist. She is a feature editor in a reputed English National Daily at Bhopal. She too has come to share the joys of reunion of 81 batch.
