Project to store water

Punjab's Soil and Water Conservation Department has recently launched a project to store and utilise all weather influx of water of hilly track in Kandi area at village Fatehpur Kothi of Mahilpur block of this district.

Punjab's Soil and Water Conservation Department has recently launched a project to store and utilise all weather influx of water of hilly track in Kandi area at village Fatehpur Kothi of Mahilpur block of this district.

After collection of influx water through filter pipers, it is being utilised for irrigation purposes. The water is being provided through under ground pipes to irrigate 66 hectares of land of the village, official sources said.

A sum of Rs 10 lakh had been spent on the entire project which is now benefitting 78 families of the village.

Minister of Animal Husbandry Jagmohan Singh Kang, who is also chairman of District Development and Planning Board, Hoshiarpur, inspected the project on May 10.
