CAREER GUIDANCE is important for students in present times and the Swami Vivekananda Career Guidance Scheme will be especially beneficial for students in tribal and remote areas, Principal Secretary of the Higher Education Department Dr Bhagirath Prasad said.
The PS was addressing a day-long workshop on Swami Vivekananda Career Guidance Scheme at the Government Naveen College on Friday.
Dr Prasad said there is no lack of talent among students in the State and the only thing they need is proper guidance. He suggested that girl students should proactively seek help of career counsellors to decide future options. The State Government wants to provide guidance in context of the changing circumstances at national and international level, he added.
Commissioner of Higher Education S N Mishra said if students receive guidance in proper time, they can be prepared to avail opportunities. Director of the scheme Dr Jayantilal Bhandari said that the students have to be moulded as per the present market of employability. They have to be competent in English, possess computer knowledge and stick to the basic rules of
competitiveness and hard work.
Career counsellor Sachin Bhatnagar urged the students to have target-oriented approach and develop interest, competence and eligibility as per the career target.
The students were informed about 100 types of career opportunities. Principal Dr Swarnalata Tiwari also spoke. In charge of career counseling, Dr Kalpana Jha; Dr Neelima Ranjan and a large number of students were present.
