Six men dragged a 28-year-old pub worker out of her taxi and into their car as her 15-year-old brother watched in horror near Gurgaon’s glitzy mall strip at 2.30am Monday, drove to an unknown location where they took turns raping her before dumping her at the Chhatarpur Metro station in south Delhi.

Police suspect the men in a white Maruti 800 forced the cab to stop 500 meters from Sahara Mall on MG Road — which has seen several attacks on women in recent days (see box). The victim later called the Delhi Police control room.

She was taken to the DLF City (Phase 2) police station in Gurgaon, where a case of abduction and rape against unknown persons was registered after a medical check.

According to Gurgaon DCP (crime) Maheshwar Dayal, one of the six men knocked on the cab’s window after stopping it. As the driver rolled down his window, another man forced open the rear door and three of his friends pulled the woman out.

“I have no idea where they took me. I was made to lie face down on the back seat of their car. Later, they took turns to rape me. I was in no condition to figure out where I was, so I pleaded with them to drop me at Chhatarpur Metro station,” she told HT.

The victim is a married woman and a mother, the Delhi Police said. She had called a cab that night as her employers at the pub in Sahara Mall didn’t provide drops on weekends. She claimed she’d earlier seen the six men at the pub. “They were dancing with my friend. But I have no clue who they are.”

The pub owners, however, denied she was an employee. “We didn’t know her,” said one, refusing to give his name. The victim’s husband claimed she was a temporary hire.

According to the police, the victim’s brother called their mother after the abduction and was told to return to their Badarpur home. The mother called the victim and heard her pleading with the accused to drop her at Chhatarpur Metro station, where they found her.
