An earthquake of moderate intensity jolted the Nicobar Island on Wednesday, but no casualty or damage was reported.

The quake, measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale, was recorded at 1749 IST, the Met office said.
Its epicentre was off the west coast of Nicobar Island.
The Andaman and Nicobar Islands had been battered by tsunami waves caused by a giant quake off the coast of Indonesia on December 26 last year.
