R Thakur sworn-in as Governor

Rameshwar Thakur is sworn-in as the 15th Governor of Karnataka after being shifted from the post in Orissa.

Rameshwar Thakur was on Tuesday sworn-in as the 15th Governor of Karnataka after being shifted from the post in Orissa.

Thakur, 80, was administered oath of office by Karnataka High Court Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph at a function in Raj Bhavan in Bangalore.

State Chief Secretary PB Mahishi read out the Presidential communique appointing Thakur as the Governor of the state.
Outgoing Governor TN Chaturvedi, Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy and Deputy Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa were present on the occasion.

The brief ceremony was witnessed by Thakur's wife Narmada, his daughters Mrudulla Sinha, Sangeeta Thakur and others members of the family.

Former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, floor leaders in both houses of legislatures N Dharam Singh and HK Patil, KPCC President M Mallikarjun Kharge and ministers also attended the ceremony.

Earlier, Thakur was accorded a warm reception on his arrival at the airport in Bangalore.

The Chief Minister also hosted a lunch in honour of Thakur and Chaturvedi.
