Rahul gets engaged to long-time friend

After sorrow and trauma, it is celebration time for Mahajan Jr as he gets engaged to his close friend.

After going through a nearly three-month ordeal, the Mahajan family finally had something to cheer about as the late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan's son Rahul got engaged to his long-time friend Sheweta at a low-key ceremony on Monday.

Rahul and Sheweta, both 31-years-old, exchanged rings at a simple ceremony at the 7, Safdarjung Road residence of the late BJP leader, which was attended by family members and some close friends.

Dressed in a cream sherwani, Rahul was greeted by his near and dear ones while Sheweta, wearing a rose and pink colour saree was hugged by her relatives.

Earlier appreciating the fact that Sheweta had stood by him during some trying times, Rahul said he was happy to be with her.

"She (Sheweta) has been my friend for 12 years. She is a pilot and my father was her Godfather. He wanted us to be together," the junior Mahajan, an accused in a drug abuse case, said.

Rahul and Sheweta both did their pilot training together abroad.
