However, the administration is yet to give permission for the event, an official said.

"To give final touches to the event, (state Congress president) Rita Bahuguna Joshi visited Bhatta-Parsaul on Tuesday," said Yogendra Awana, general secretary of Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee.

Deepak Agrawal, Gautam Budh Nagar district magistrate, said: "The party has sought permission for Rahul Gandhi's public meeting at two places - Bhatta-Parsaul and Jewar."

The permission will be given only after police give a security clearance, he added.

Violence between farmers and the administration over land acquisition in Bhatta-Parsaul villages May 7 resulted in the deaths of four people, including two policemen.
